Water Main Break - Important Information

Friday, February 09, 2018

A water main break occurred earlier today on West Main Street in the center of Denville. At this point, the DPW has been successful in isolating the leak and have commenced main repair. It is anticipated this will endure for several more hours.

This water main break was the cause of the drop in water pressure. However, now isolated, normal water pressure is being restored and should return to normal slowly.  As this occurs you may experience some discolored water from dislodged sediments in the pipes. In accordance with NJDEP Safe Drinking Water Regulations, there is NO boil water advisory required. The discoloration due to the sediment is not harmful.  Should you experience discolored water, we simply recommend that you run your water from your faucets for several minutes until it runs clear.  If you continue to see discolored water after several minutes, we ask that you call the Denville Water Department at 973-625-8334, and the Township will send someone out to inspect the issue.

Furthermore, although all local businesses are open as normal in downtown Denville, residents are encouraged to avoid commuting thru downtown if it possible to avoid.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
