The Detective Bureau's primary responsibility is to conduct follow-up investigations of all criminal matters. The Detective Bureau also performs other administrative tasks such as solicitor's background checks, ABC license inspections, the background investigations for firearms permit applicants and the maintenance of Megan's Law files.

The Detective Bureau falls under the authority of the Support Services Division Commander and currently consists of three full time detectives under the supervision of the Support Services Division Commander.
