The purpose of the Citizens Police Academy is to give the public a working knowledge and understanding of the operations of our police department and of law enforcement in general, to include our agency's goals and objectives. Areas of instruction will cover various topics routinely addressed by law enforcement, to include: criminal and constitutional law relating to arrest, search and seizure; patrol techniques; drug trends; and the use of force, to include running through scenarios in a firearms training simulator. Classes will be formulated to incorporate an interactive format, providing participants with a "hands-on" experience whenever practical. It is our intention that the graduates of the Citizens Police Academy will gain an awareness and appreciation of the services provided by our police department and will become good will ambassadors for the law enforcement community as a whole.
